Couldn’t you just slap him sometimes?

I appreciate the effort that and gone into making these gifs, and this comment is in no way meant to reflect badly on the op, but the amount the Doctor (and the odd other male character) gets slapped in Doctor Who makes me feel pretty uncomfortable. I’m not talking about when it’s done in self defense (the baseball bat) or for necessary reasons, but the times when someone slaps another person because of an argument or disagreement, and then the whole event is made out as humorous and the person doing the slapping is usually portrayed as if they’re in the right. And I just feel like it’s unnecessary violence that shouldn’t be condoned - hitting someone you don’t agree with isn’t going to solve anything, regardless of the genders of the people involved, and it’s hardly sending out a good message to young impressionable viewers. If someone’s being a dick, you tell them, you should never slap them. It’s not even like it’s engaging in a fight - I’ve always seen a slap is like an act of discipline to humiliate the person on the receiving end, and it’s just not something that should ever be encouraged, especially on a family TV show where it’s played for laughs. And I’m sorry if it seems I’m ranting at the poster of these gifs - I’m really really not, it’s just something that irks me about Doctor Who (and various other TV shows as well to be honest)
